Another Mercedes production line will be completed by the engineers of evopro.
The latest Mercedes C class cars will be manufactured in a factory in Bremen that is still under construction, but it is already being hailed as the gold standard of Daimler. The first production line to be completed of the four that is being planned will be the chassis manufacturing line for the sedan. Evopro has started the work on November 2011 and altogether 160 engineers worked on the project under their guidance. The production line integrates 330 industrial robots (in comparison, at the Mercedes factory in Kecskemét, Hungary evopro was responsible for programming 220 robots) and a team of 30 people from the IS section implemented the project. The control technology of the line required programming almost 40 PLCs, while the electrical installation was completed by evopro Systems Engineering Srl from Transylvania, Romania and by other subcontractors. Considering all the phases of car manufacturing, the project encompassed the entire assembly line of the chassis, which included the automation of gluing, welding, and various other smaller work phases.
The completed production line will go through a test run until November to complete quality control and production optimization before market production starts on it. Concurrent with the handover of this line work has already been started to implement the second production line.
