There were several news reports in the media about the cooperation of evopro and AKKA – Balázs Bodnár gave more details about it in several interviews, amongst them to the listeners of Info Radio and to the readers of the daily “Népszabadság”.
The number one engineering company of the European continent, AKKA Technologies (AKKA) – a strategic partner of the pan-European EADS (European Aeronautic Defence and Space Company), a group that incorporates leading European technology companies and is a major player in aeronautic and space industries – will soon strengthen its competitive advantage with Hungarian engineering know-how thanks to an agreement between AKKA and the evopro group, the largest Hungarian-owned engineering company. It is particularly important for Hungary to increase its competitive knowledge capital by joining programs that require highly developed technological skills. The Hungarian engineers will take part in developments primarily in the railroad and vehicle industries.
Soon Hungarian developments will also be helping AKKA, a company established in 1984 in Lyon which represents the highest European technological know-how and employs over 10000 engineers, generating almost 250 billion Forints (€850 million) of revenue yearly. The fast growing, stock exchange listed company has been involved in informatics, software development, the energy sector, telecommunications, the car industry, and in space technology, too. The importance of the company is well-established by the fact that it is a key supplier of EADS, a leader in the aeronautic and space industries, which also defines its main activities.
The largest Hungarian-owned engineering company, the evopro group, employs over one thousand highly skilled engineers. The group has a worldwide presence mainly in the fields of industrial automation, engineering design, machine manufacturing, drive technology, test automation and informatics. The company has been actively involved in various developments, like in the design and implementation of the baggage delivery system of the Dubai airport, in the creation of a diagnostic system for fusion reactors, and more recently it has also been involved in the design of a new bus family platform. These achievements have drawn the attention of AKKA to the Hungarian evopro.
“This agreement is of great importance not just for our company group, but also for Hungary, since Hungarian engineers will be working closely with newer high-level technologies which will impact the competitiveness of the entire country. If we use this opportunity well, entire generations of engineers will gain access to competitive technological know-how”, said Balázs Bodnár, Managing Director of evopro Informatics and Automation Ltd. He added: as a strategic partner of EADS, AKKA is involved in all Airbus projects, it's also involved in Galileo, the European satellite navigation system, and it has played a role in creating the ERTMS (European Railway Traffic Management System).
With this agreement evopro has entered the circulation of the international vehicle industry that is producing advanced technologies. At first AKKA is counting on the innovative proposals and solutions of the Hungarian engineers in the area of car manufacturing and railroad vehicle development, but discussions are already underway for potential future expansions of the current cooperation.
